Tesla’s 2025 Spring Update brought a broad collection of visual and practical software changes. As usual, availability depended on the vehicle’s hardware and market, so not every car received every feature. Here are the highlights described in the release, together with our dedicated video.
More flexible journey planning
One useful addition was an expanded trip planner, offering three route preferences:
- Fastest: the quickest route.
- Best Amenities: stops near well-rated restaurants, shops and toilets.
- Fewer Stops: fewer charging stops.
The update also added an option to avoid motorways, for drivers who preferred a different route.

Dashcam and Sentry Mode
On supported newer hardware, particularly HW4, recordings could include the B-pillar cameras as well as the existing views, in both Dashcam and Sentry Mode. A new grid-style Dashcam Viewer made reviewing the available angles easier.

Cybertruck
The Cybertruck received its own changes, including:
- Comfort Drive Mode: automatically selected with Autopilot on supported Cybertrucks.
- Lane Departure Avoidance Assist: steering intervention to help avoid leaving the lane, subject to its operating conditions.

Comfort and personalisation
- Location-based boot height: save a different opening height for particular places, such as a garage.
- Keep Accessory Power On: keep USB ports and wireless charging powered after leaving the car, with battery charge above 20% as described in the release.
- Keyboard language selection: a more direct language switcher on the display.

Media improvements
Tesla also updated parts of the audio and entertainment experience:
- Media search: filter results by source.
- Shuffle Apple Music playlists containing more than 100 tracks.
- Support for Amazon Music Free with Premium Connectivity or Wi-Fi.
- A new Up Next view for YouTube Music.
- More intuitive SiriusXM browsing.
- Automatic reconnection to a personal hotspot.

Other useful details
- Information about amenities near Superchargers.
- An improved rear camera view on Model Y with HW4.
- The option to hide non-Tesla charging locations on the map.
- Security fixes and general improvements.
- Blind Spot Camera on the driver’s display in supported Model S and Model X vehicles.

An update with everyday benefits
The Spring Update illustrated a familiar Tesla strength: software can continue changing the car after purchase. Some features were limited to newer models, but navigation and other everyday improvements could make a useful difference on supported vehicles.
