The colour changes covered in this report concerned North America: Frost Blue was introduced for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, alongside wider availability of Marine Blue. For European readers, the questions were whether the new finish would reach their market and whether Frost Blue might replace Marine Blue. No Italian launch had been confirmed in the article.

Frost Blue: a distinctive finish for Performance models

The report described Frost Blue as a new US option reserved for Performance versions of Model 3 and Model Y, setting those variants apart from the rest of the range.

It noted that the colour had previously appeared on Model S and Model X during 2025–2026, but only for a relatively short period. Bringing it to the higher-volume models widened its reach. The author considered it visually different from the Marine Blue offered in Europe, describing it as:

  • lighter;
  • more metallic;
  • with icy, almost satin-like reflections;
  • and more striking overall.

Marine Blue expands to North America

The other change described was the introduction of Marine Blue in the US and Canada for RWD and Long Range AWD Premium versions, after availability in Europe and Asia-Pacific. The author saw this as a possible sign of a more consistent global Tesla colour range, rather than confirmation of such a strategy.

Could Frost Blue replace Marine Blue?

At the time of the report, Tesla had not announced a replacement plan. The author interpreted Frost Blue as a more exclusive finish, while Marine Blue occupied a different position in the range, and discussed two possible scenarios:

Scenario 1: both colours remain available

Tesla might retain Marine Blue for RWD and Long Range versions and Frost Blue for Performance models.

Scenario 2: a gradual replacement

Alternatively, Tesla might phase out Marine Blue as part of a revised colour range. The article compared this possibility with previous changes involving Midnight Silver Metallic, Red Multi-Coat and Quicksilver. It did not establish that a phase-out had been decided.

The following photographs show the two finishes discussed in the article.

When could it reach Italy?

For European Model Y production, the report looked to Tesla Europe and Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. The German factory had already introduced finishes aimed at Europe, including Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red. On that basis, the author suggested three possibilities:

  • Frost Blue might reach the European Model Y first;
  • it might initially be limited to Performance versions;
  • and it might appear in late 2026 or early 2027. These were the article’s predictions, not a confirmed Italian launch schedule.

What about Model 3?

The situation was different for Model 3 because European deliveries were primarily supplied by Gigafactory Shanghai. New colours would therefore also depend on Chinese production decisions and whether Tesla chose to align its regional configurators.

Could Frost Blue become a sought-after Tesla colour?

The author described the early online response as very positive. Some enthusiasts considered Frost Blue more elegant than Marine Blue and more modern than Deep Blue Metallic, with a finish that complemented the lines of Model 3 Highland and Model Y Juniper.

If Tesla brought it to Europe, it could become a popular choice. That remained an expectation in the report, rather than an availability announcement.
