Some Model Y L customers in the United States are seeing delivery estimates slip into 2027. Reports emerging on 19 October describe longer waits for some orders, while other owners have already received the six-seat version. This is therefore not a general halt to deliveries.
For those following the roomiest member of the Model Y family, that distinction matters. A delay appearing in some accounts does not mean all vehicles have the same problem, or establish on its own what is happening in production.
Model Y L: what we know about US deliveries
The reported windows for some orders extend into the first months of 2027. At the same time, completed US deliveries have been documented, such as one shared by an owner in Florida. There is no public Tesla explanation attributing these delays to a specific cause in the information examined.
We therefore do not present them as a confirmed consequence of a technical problem, recall or particular component shortage. Those would go beyond what the accounts establish.
- Market concerned: United States.
- Situation: delays reported for some orders.
- Other deliveries: already documented.
- Official cause: not provided in the information examined.

Why comparing two dates is not enough
When two people order a similar car, comparing the wait is natural. But a useful comparison requires more information: exact version, configuration, destination and order date. Without those details, two screenshots can give an unrepresentative impression.
The date shown in an account is primarily a reference for that customer. Reading another owner’s experience can help illustrate that different situations exist, but does not replace an update about your own vehicle.
We would also avoid treating these delays as an automatic measure of demand. Assessing sales requires suitable data: a long wait alone does not distinguish between high order volumes and limited availability.
What makes the six-seat Model Y L different
Model Y L is designed to offer three rows and six seats, with a longer body than the conventional Model Y. That is what makes it interesting to people seeking more family space while keeping an electric SUV format.
However, it should not be confused with any Model Y fitted with a third row: the model name and configuration must be checked in the market of purchase. US photographs, prices and reviews also need to be read in context.
We followed that development in our article on Model Y L heading to Western markets. The subject here is different: delivery progress for some US customers.
What it means for people waiting for Model Y L in Italy
The US reports do not establish a new delivery date for Italy. We cannot apply a window shown in a US account to an Italian order, or infer a change to the European schedule from these cases.
If you are considering a purchase, refer to Tesla Italy’s website and the configurations actually offered. If you already have an order, the communication associated with your reservation matters. The US news remains interesting, but does not automatically change that information.
Three useful checks before arranging delivery
- Check the window shown in your Tesla account.
- Confirm any deadlines that depend on delivery with support.
- Avoid irreversible commitments based solely on a date reported by another customer.
We will follow any Tesla clarification and concrete updates. In the meantime, find more coverage in our Model Y section, where we distinguish global developments from what is actually available to Italian audiences.
