An unofficial route used to open the browser and access additional streaming services no longer works on Tesla’s rear display. Reports associated with the 2026.38 branch now show a message asking users to continue on another device. This does not mean Tesla has removed all passenger entertainment: the change concerns that particular workaround.

Tesla rear display: what has changed

The route used a link accessible through YouTube to reach a webpage and then navigate to other sites. It was a possibility discovered by users, rather than a rear-screen browser Tesla had presented as a supported feature.

The owner’s report now shows a screen saying Continue on another device, with a QR code. The message says the requested feature is not supported on the current device and directs users to their phone. In practice, that link no longer leads to the browsing route users had learned to exploit.

Not all streaming is disappearing from Tesla’s rear display

It is easy to read the news as a blanket block, but that would be the wrong conclusion. The described issue concerns indirect web access. Apps officially included in the vehicle’s entertainment system should be considered separately, with availability depending on model, software and country.

If a platform appears in your Tesla’s Theater menu, this report does not show that it has been removed. Equally, a platform previously reached only through a secondary link does not become an official app simply because it could load.

Why we cannot confidently attribute the decision to Tesla

No official explanation for the change has been identified. The observed screen documents the outcome, but does not establish which component changed its behaviour or what commercial agreements might be involved.

We therefore do not present theories about data savings, performance or relationships with video services as facts. These are possible interpretations, but confirming them would require further communications or technical evidence. For people who used the route, the practical fact is much simpler: they can no longer rely on it as before.

What it means for Tesla users in Italy

No measure specifically targeting the Italian market has been announced. The reports come from vehicles with particular software versions; they do not establish the same behaviour across the whole fleet. Even the physical presence of a rear display depends on the car’s version and generation.

The practical check is to look at the apps actually available on your own screen. A problem with an official app is different from this alternative route no longer working. Comparing the update notes and connection status may help before attributing every error to the same cause.

An alternative for unsupported content

For a service absent from the car’s menu, a phone or tablet remains the more predictable option. It does not depend on a hidden route that may change after an update. Any future native support should instead be assessed when Tesla or the platform announces it.

There is therefore no new rear-screen browser to activate through a normal setting. There is an unofficial feature that has stopped working in the documented reports. For other interface changes, see our overview of Tesla 2026.32 and the software updates section.
