Tesla Diner ends its first year with 21.2 GWh delivered and around 1,600 charging sessions a day. Max de Zegher communicated the figures on 21 July 2026, identifying the Hollywood site as the world’s busiest Supercharger by energy delivered.

Archive coverage published on 23 October 2026. The editorial date is 22 July 2026, following the original communication. The text reconstructs figures available then without incorporating later developments.

Tesla Diner: first-year figures

The story concerns one installation in the United States. It is not a total for the Supercharger network or a customer satisfaction ranking. The stated measure is energy delivered: a criterion for comparing stations’ activity volume, although it does not describe every aspect of service on its own.

The original Max de Zegher post accompanies the figures with a chart of the ten busiest Superchargers by energy delivered. Tesla Diner’s curve stands out from the others. The communication does not name every station shown, however: identifying them by guesswork would add unverified information.

For context on the project, our previous coverage of Tesla Diner’s opening remains available. The new element here is the first-year summary: an operating figure extending beyond interest in the building and the charging-stop experience.

How much energy is 21.2 GWh?

A gigawatt-hour equals one million kilowatt-hours. The reported 21.2 GWh therefore corresponds to 21.2 million kWh delivered over the year. It does not indicate a battery’s capacity or instantaneous power available to an individual car.

Spreading that total over 365 days gives around 58,000 kWh per day. This arithmetic calculation of the published figure helps explain its scale; it does not mean every day recorded exactly that consumption. Visits, stop duration and energy requested by cars can change over time.

The relationship with around 1,600 daily sessions also requires care. Dividing the two averages gives around 36 kWh per session. Since the starting figures are rounded, this is only an indicative estimate, rather than an official measurement of every customer’s typical charge or a promise of how much energy a car will receive.

Sessions and power are different measures

A session is a charging event, rather than a distinct person. The same vehicle can return repeatedly and different customers can require very different amounts of energy. Consequently, 1,600 daily sessions do not automatically mean 1,600 unique customers, cars charged from empty or batteries filled completely.

The session count does not reveal average waiting time either. That would require data on queues, arrival patterns and charging-point occupancy. A busy installation may have good turnover, but the annual total does not guarantee a free post at any moment.

Finally, energy delivered cannot establish revenue by applying a price observed on one day. Prices, time bands and conditions can vary. The reported energy summary is not an income statement for the restaurant or station and does not, by itself, demonstrate the project’s overall profitability.

What it means for charging in Italy

Tesla Diner is a concrete example of charging associated with a place to spend the stop. The result is also interesting for European electric-mobility followers, but does not announce an Italian venue, new prices or a service available near home.

Planning a journey still depends on the specific station’s information: location, availability, access and price shown for your vehicle. A US installation’s performance should not automatically be transferred to Italian Superchargers. For a wider perspective, we have also reconstructed the Supercharger network’s size in Q2 2026.
