Tesla Cybercab could eventually move beyond the United States and reach Europe. Elon Musk suggested as much in a reply on X to a user hoping to see Tesla’s robotaxi on European roads. This October 2026 report linked his comment to the reported start of Cybercab passenger rides in Austin, Texas.
Streamer @rob2628 had shared an account of riding in a Cybercab and hoped there would not be a years-long wait for the vehicle to reach the European Union. Musk replied: “Hopefully soon in Europe too”. At the time, this was an indication of intent, not an official announcement of European dates or cities.
Could Germany be a starting point?

If Tesla followed a similar path in Europe to the one described in the US, Germany could be among the first countries involved. The article noted that the initial Austin tests and public rides were close to Gigafactory Texas, where Cybercabs were being produced. A similar approach might be possible at Giga Berlin. Musk had previously identified Cybercab as the next-generation product most likely to come to the German factory before Optimus.
Tesla had also filed permits for a new building and railway infrastructure at its Grünheide factory. The additional space could potentially accommodate modular assembly lines using the Unboxed production system intended for Cybercab. In that scenario, initial European vehicles might be built and tested in Germany, perhaps with employee-only rides before any public service. These remained possibilities, not confirmed uses of the new facilities.
Regulation remains the main hurdle

The central question was less about manufacturing than Europe’s rules for autonomous driving. At publication, the article described Tesla’s Robotaxi service as operating in seven US metropolitan areas and not yet in Canada.
The European position was more complex. The article reported authorisations for Full Self-Driving (Supervised) in several European countries, while emphasising that approval was not uniform across the EU. It also described opposition from countries including France and Sweden to an EU-wide authorisation. Cybercab would pose a different and greater regulatory challenge: approval would concern a vehicle designed without a steering wheel or pedals for autonomous robotaxi operation, rather than simply a driver-assistance system.
Cybercab’s possible European arrival would therefore depend on manufacturing, development of the Robotaxi network and, above all, the regulatory framework. Musk’s words suggested that Europe was on Tesla’s horizon. For the time being, however, no official European launch date had been announced.
