In its 2025 Impact Report, Tesla estimates that customers avoided almost 37 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent during the year. The figure covers its products collectively: electric cars, solar paired with storage, Megapack and Powerwall. It does not describe vehicle emissions alone or mean the company’s industrial activities have no environmental impact.

Impact Report 2025: what the emissions figure measures
The extended report, published on Tesla’s official website, brings together information about products, facilities, people and the supply chain. On page 17, it attributes an estimated reduction of almost 37 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent in 2025 to customers. The CO₂e unit expresses different greenhouse gases on a common basis.
The useful distinction is between emissions avoided through product use and emissions generated by the business. These are different accounts: the first depends on a comparison with an alternative scenario, while manufacturing, logistics and materials retain their own environmental footprint. The total should therefore not be read as a reduction automatically achievable by every individual owner.

Customers’ solar generation and Tesla facilities
On page 34, Tesla reports that customers using its solar installations generated more than 2.1 times the electricity needed by all its manufacturing, support, sales, research, service and delivery locations worldwide in 2025.
The document nevertheless specifies an important limit: customer-generated energy is not counted towards the company’s renewable electricity targets for its operations. The comparison illustrates the scale of the energy ecosystem without claiming that this output directly powers every Tesla factory.
The Giga Berlin water figure
In its water section on page 50, Tesla reports around 0.3 million cubic metres consumed at the Berlin factory in 2025, compared with 0.45 million in 2024. The report distinguishes actual consumption from the permitted quantity of 1.4 million cubic metres annually.
This is a factory figure, rather than total water consumption across a vehicle’s entire supply chain. Here too, comparing numbers with different boundaries would lead to unhelpful conclusions: water used by suppliers and water used at the factory are not the same measure.
The three measures compared
| Report measure | 2025 figure | Scope to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Emissions avoided by customers | Almost 37 million tonnes of CO₂e | Global portfolio of vehicles and energy products |
| Solar electricity generated by customers | More than 2.1 times the needs of Tesla facilities | Global comparison; excluded from company operational targets |
| Water consumed at Giga Berlin | Around 0.3 million cubic metres | Factory consumption, distinct from supply chain use and the permitted quantity |
To make the scale of water use clearer, 0.3 million cubic metres equals around 300,000 cubic metres; the previous year’s 0.45 million equals 450,000. The difference is therefore around 150,000 cubic metres. This converts Tesla’s rounded figures rather than providing a new independent measurement of consumption.
How to read these results from Italy
For anyone driving or considering a Tesla in Italy, the report provides context about the company’s industrial and energy system. It does not guarantee a personal saving: distance travelled, charging electricity and length of use vary between situations. The cited data are Tesla’s reporting and estimates, to be read with the definitions and boundaries in the original document.
