Tesla Semi in Europe: on 11 September 2026, Tesla published an initial technical overview of its electric truck for the European market. The regional account’s message states up to 550 km of range fully loaded, at a gross combination weight of 40 tonnes, and energy consumption of 1 kWh per kilometre.
Compared with the earlier announcement of its appearance in Hanover, the development is concrete: specific European figures provide context for the truck without automatically transferring specifications from versions intended for the United States.
Tesla Semi in Europe: the announced figures
The source is the official Tesla Europe, Middle East & Africa post, published on 11 September. Alongside range and consumption, Tesla gives maximum Megacharger power, an estimate of range recovered during a stop, tractor kerb weight and power available through ePTO.
| Item | Figure stated by Tesla |
|---|---|
| Range | Up to 550 km fully loaded |
| Gross combination weight | 40 tonnes |
| Energy consumption | 1 kWh/km |
| Megacharger | Up to 800 kW |
| Range recovery | Around 60% in 30 minutes |
| Tractor kerb weight | 9,100 kg |
| ePTO | Up to 25 kW |
These are manufacturer specifications, rather than results measured by Teslhub. The expressions “up to” and “around” are part of their meaning and must be retained: a stated maximum does not mean identical performance in every operating situation.

550 km and 40 tonnes: what they indicate
Tesla associates the range figure with the fully loaded 40-tonne combination. That figure is not the payload: it includes the combined vehicle. Similarly, the 9,100 kg stated kerb weight should not be confused with the weight of the whole combination fully loaded.
For an operator, the difference is substantial. Comparing vehicles requires separating tractor, semi-trailer and cargo weight, rather than deriving a definitive payload merely by subtracting 9,100 kg from 40 tonnes. The post provides a technical reference but does not replace documentation for the configuration actually selected.
The consumption of 1 kWh/km is also a stated figure. Using it to estimate the energy needed for a route differs from guaranteeing that consumption on every journey. The announcement contains no comparative test covering all European transport operations and does not support a fixed cost-per-kilometre promise.
Megacharging up to 800 kW
For the European Tesla Semi, the message specifies a Megacharger delivering up to 800 kW and recovery of around 60% of range in 30 minutes. Maximum power and range recovery during a stop describe different aspects: the kW peak should not be interpreted as constant power sustained throughout a session.
This refers to the truck’s Megacharger. It does not announce 800 kW for the Supercharger posts used by passenger cars. Fleet assessment therefore needs to consider vehicle and infrastructure together, checking the installations planned for stops and the operating base.
What fleets still need to assess
An ePTO output of up to 25 kW adds information about electrically powered auxiliary equipment. It does not confirm compatibility with every piece of equipment or body configuration: the actual choice requires specifications for the installation and components involved.
The step forward on 11 September is the publication of identifiable European figures. The post consulted sets no Italian price, delivery date for an individual customer or national commercial terms. We do not add such information from speculation or pages updated after the editorial date.
We will follow European Tesla Semi developments while distinguishing announcements, configurations and actual availability. Find more industry news in our EV and Tesla section.
The cover is also an archive image of the Semi range: it is not presented as a photograph of the European version.
