Tesla’s 2025 Holiday Update, version 2025.44.25.1, brought a wide collection of new features, interface changes, games and personalisation options. As with other Tesla releases, availability depended on the vehicle, hardware and region. These were the main additions described in the update.
Grok navigation commands, not available in Europe at this release
Grok gained the ability to add or change destinations, find points of interest and look for Superchargers near cafés or restaurants. It could also help plan a more personalised route. The feature required Premium Connectivity or Wi-Fi. The release description said conversations were anonymous and not linked to the vehicle; that described the arrangement at publication, rather than a promise about all future account settings.
Tesla Photobooth
Photobooth lets occupants take selfies with filters and stickers and share them through the Tesla app. The feature operates in Park and required app version 4.51.5 or later in the release described.
Dog Mode Live Activity on iOS
On an iPhone, a Live Activity appears while Dog Mode is running, showing cabin temperature and status. Premium Connectivity also enabled periodic cabin snapshots on supported vehicles.
An updated Dashcam Viewer
Dashcam clips could now show information including speed, steering angle and driver-assistance status, both in the car and in the Tesla app. The app display required enabling the relevant option in the app.
Updated Santa Mode
Santa Mode added new 3D effects, including snow, trees and snowmen, together with a festive lock sound. It is found in Toybox.
Light Show changes
The update added a new holiday choreography and the option to schedule a show up to ten minutes ahead. Support for custom shows expanded to include interior effects and coloured displays on compatible vehicles. Custom files go in a USB drive’s LightShow folder.
Vehicle appearance customisation
Owners could customise the car’s on-screen avatar with paint and wrap designs, window tint and personalised number plates. The release offered preset designs and the option to load custom ones by USB. These changes affect the visualisation, not the physical car.
Navigation improvements
Favourites could be reordered, Home and Work set using a map pin, and suggested destinations based on driving habits.
Automatic HOV routing
In supported regions, navigation could take carpool lanes into account according to the relevant road rules, occupancy and time restrictions. Drivers still need to ensure they are eligible to use a restricted lane.
Detailed Supercharger maps
Selected Supercharger locations gained a 3D layout view with live stall occupancy when arriving at the site.
Phone-left-behind alert
If a phone was left on the wireless charging pad when the driver exited, the car could sound a chime a few seconds later on supported hardware.
Location-based charging limits
Owners could save different charge limits for familiar locations, with the relevant limit applied automatically when charging there again.
SpaceX Docking Simulator
Arcade gained a 3D game simulating docking with the International Space Station, using spacecraft-style controls.
Other additions and refinements
- The option to enable or disable wireless charging pads on supported vehicles.
- A phone notification if a door remains open while Dog Mode is active.
- Quickly add Spotify search results to the queue.
- Smoother scrolling in playlists and libraries.
- A Tron-inspired lock sound in Boombox.
Dashcam storage information
The space used on the Dashcam USB drive became visible in the car’s safety settings.
New Dashcam categories
Recordings could be grouped by the trigger that saved them, such as a horn press, manual save, a pulled door handle or another recording event.
A broad holiday feature update
The 2025 Holiday Update expanded Tesla’s infotainment, entertainment and personalisation features, alongside practical vehicle and recording functions. Some features remained limited by hardware or market. Further European availability depended on the specific function, supported models and applicable local requirements.
