One project to generate electricity on the roof and store it for use at home: in May 2026, Tesla and BOXT brought a package of eight solar panels and a Powerwall 3 to the UK, offered with a payment plan of £199 a month.
Archive coverage of the news from 11 May 2026, prepared in October 2026. Prices and examples refer to the UK proposal at that time, rather than an Italian offer.
Powerwall in the UK solar package
The proposal paired a solar installation with a Powerwall 3 home battery. The manufacturer and installer were presenting two parts of the same energy system, rather than offering only the storage device.
For the example with eight panels and Powerwall 3, BOXT’s documentation listed a price of £11,299, a £1,747 deposit and 48 monthly payments of £199. The monthly payment alone therefore did not represent the total cost: the deposit was part of the calculation.
Finance and installation came with specific conditions
The example listed an annual interest rate and APR of 0%, with credit subject to assessment and the applicable conditions. The offer described was aimed at Tesla customers. The panels and batteries were not being supplied free of charge.
The installer’s page also specified that the Backup Gateway needed to supply power during a grid outage was not included in the example order. A home battery and backup during a blackout therefore could not automatically be treated as the same equipment package.
A development in the UK market
The package was interesting because it connected the installation, storage and payment arrangements. When comparing proposals of this kind, however, the actual design, included accessories and total amount payable matter, rather than just the monthly figure.
