Tesla Superchargers in 2024: the network at year-end

Tesla’s Supercharger network ended 2024 with 6,975 stations and 65,495 connectors worldwide. These figures appear in Tesla’s fourth-quarter and full-year update, published on 29 January 2025. Compared with the end of 2023, reported growth was 17% in stations and 19% in connectors.

The quarterly table also distinguishes the last three months from the full year: at the end of September 2024, there were 6,706 stations and 62,421 connectors. Net fourth-quarter differences were therefore 269 stations and 3,074 connectors, calculated from the document’s totals.

Stations and connectors: two figures not to confuse

A station is a charging site, while the connector count describes the points vehicles connect to. An announcement about new points therefore does not automatically mean the same number of new locations. This distinction is essential when comparing geographical coverage with the ability to accommodate more cars at one place.

Dividing 65,495 connectors by 6,975 stations gives an average of around 9.4 connectors per site. This is our arithmetic calculation using two global figures: it does not mean every station has nine or ten charging points. An average summarises installations of different sizes rather than describing a particular service area’s configuration.

How much the network grew in 2024

The comparison with year-end 2023 starts from 5,952 stations and 54,892 connectors. The annual net difference is 1,023 stations and 10,603 connectors. These calculations are consistent with Tesla’s rounded percentages, but should not be presented as a list of individually verified openings.

Comparing two end-of-period snapshots measures a change in the total. Reconstructing all work would instead require individual openings, expansions and any network changes. This is also useful when reading later announcements: an annual net increase and a particular project’s count answer different questions.

Energy delivered measures another activity

In its charging summary, Tesla reports more than 5.2 TWh delivered during 2024. That figure covers a whole year, while 65,495 connectors is the total at the end of December. The former measures energy; the latter measures network size at a particular moment.

They should therefore not be confused with available power or session counts. Nor would dividing annual energy by the final connector count alone provide a reliable measure of each point’s utilisation: the number of points changed during the year. The aggregate figure also cannot reconstruct queues experienced at a particular location.

What this summary tells travellers in Italy

Tesla’s 2024 Supercharger totals are worldwide figures. They do not indicate how many sites were added in Italy, which were open to other brands or the charging price at a particular station. A network summary cannot replace this local information.

For someone planning a journey, global growth provides context; assessing a stop requires the relevant site’s details. This account retains figures published in January 2025 without adding October 2026 prices, features or availability as if they already applied then.
