Tesla is expanding its entry-level electric range in Europe with the new Model 3 Standard, launched at a list price of €36,990. At publication, a Tesla Bonus available until the end of the month could bring the price down to €35,400. Following the Model Y Standard, Tesla’s best-selling saloon therefore gains a version aimed at buyers looking for a lower initial investment, while retaining efficiency, technology and low running costs. These prices and the limited-time offer describe the launch period, rather than a current quotation.

High efficiency and a useful driving range

The Model 3 Standard has a quoted WLTP consumption figure of 13.0 kWh/100 km and a range of 534 km. Its stated performance includes 0–100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h. New 18-inch Prismata wheels are designed to support efficiency.

What changes compared with the higher-spec versions

The lower price comes with a number of targeted equipment changes:

  • Three available colours: white is included, while black and grey cost extra.
  • Fabric upholstery, with heated, manually adjustable front seats.
  • No rear passenger display.
  • No customisable ambient lighting.
  • A simpler audio system.
  • Manual steering-wheel adjustment.
  • Reduced mirror functionality, although the mirrors remain electrically folding.

The essentials of the Tesla experience

The equipment described at launch still includes many of the features associated with Tesla:

  • Adaptive matrix LED headlights.
  • An updated camera system with heating and an integrated washer.
  • Over-the-air software updates.
  • Standard Autopilot and hardware intended to support supervised driver assistance.
  • A panoramic glass roof.
  • A powered boot lid, with quoted luggage capacity of 549 litres, rising to 1,659 litres.
  • An 88-litre front boot.
  • Optional towing capability of up to 1,000 kg.
  • Connectivity features including the app, voice commands, navigation, USB-C power up to 65 W and wireless phone charging.

An entry-level version with relatively few compromises

Compared with the Model Y Standard, the Model 3 Standard retains more premium equipment, giving it a less stripped-back feel as an entry-level option. Despite the lower price, its overall package remains close to that of the higher-spec versions, with ongoing software updates, safety features and cabin comfort. The article’s assessment was that it offered much of the Model 3 experience without major compromises in technology or perceived quality. Reports cited a battery close to 70 kWh and estimated output of around 290 PS; those figures were estimates, not specifications independently confirmed in this translation.
