Tesla’s next results presentation is expected to include video. Elon Musk has responded positively to a request to turn the traditional earnings call into a video livestream, signalling a possible change in how the company addresses shareholders and enthusiasts.

The commitment came during a conversation on X. Asked whether viewers could see management on video during the next call, Musk said it would happen next time. This is a commitment about the format; no detailed streaming programme or product demonstration has been announced.

A different way to follow the figures and the discussion

Earnings calls accompany the company’s periodic results, giving management an opportunity to discuss performance and answer questions. Adding video could make it easier to follow the speakers and any materials they present, while keeping the focus on the information and management’s answers.

The online discussion followed a SpaceX presentation, which users cited as an example of more visual communication. That does not mean Tesla has already chosen the same setup, a factory location or a particular type of footage. Those details were not specified in Musk’s reply.

The quarterly earnings call is separate from the shareholder meeting

The change concerns the results presentation, which is separate from the shareholder meeting on 3 December. That meeting has its own agenda and participation arrangements, covered in our Tesla shareholder meeting article.

For people following the company, a more accessible format could be welcome. Its value will still depend primarily on the clarity of the answers and the substance of the discussion: switching to video does not, by itself, signal manufacturing developments, financial results or announcements about upcoming vehicles.
