Tesla is extending Robotaxi service until 2 a.m. and introducing changes intended to make journeys easier and more relaxing. The official update lists operating hours of 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.: a twenty-hour window covering more late-evening travel.

This is not yet a round-the-clock service, and the announcement does not explain in detail how the new hours apply to every market. Before planning a late journey home, passengers should still check availability in the app, as operating hours can differ by area.

A quieter cabin experience with Calm Mode

Calm Mode dims the screen and adjusts cabin lighting to create a more relaxing environment. The choice puts the passenger experience in focus: on an evening ride, a less intrusive display can matter just as much as more conspicuous features.

Other additions include a rear-camera view during the journey and the ability to share ride details with a friend. Tesla also highlights a refreshed look for Live Activities and access to Grok in the Model Y vehicles used by the service.

More help finding your vehicle

The changes include an improved vehicle-location arrow, haptic feedback to help passengers reach the car and screen-reader support for music controls. These are less eye-catching changes, but they address practical parts of a ride, particularly at crowded or unfamiliar pickup points.

Taken together, the additions show a service working on more than the journey itself. They concern Robotaxi in the US areas where it is available: they are not features automatically being rolled out to privately owned Teslas, nor an announcement that the service is opening in Italy.
