Tesla’s Robotaxi network is expanding to Fort Worth, Texas. The official announcement adds another city in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and gives a start time of 6 a.m., marking another step in the US service’s expansion.
The change concerns Tesla’s on-demand transport service. For local residents, the practical difference is being able to check whether their pickup point and destination fall within the Robotaxi app’s service area, rather than travelling to another city to try it.
A new area, with availability to check in the app
The launch was announced by the official Robotaxi account between 1 and 2 November, depending on the time zone used to view the post. It does not mean blanket coverage of the entire metropolitan area: the service operates within a defined boundary, which should be checked on the map before booking.
After a destination is entered, the app displays estimated waiting time and fare. When the vehicle arrives, passengers should check its licence plate, get in and fasten their seat belts; the ride can be started from the app or touchscreen. Controls are also provided to request support or a stop.
Robotaxi and privately owned cars follow different paths
Expanding the service geographically does not introduce a new feature on customers’ own Teslas. Nor does Cybercab’s presence in other cities mean that every Fort Worth ride will use the two-seater: vehicle assignment and availability depend on the service.
For readers following Tesla from Italy, Fort Worth is primarily another part of its US growth. The interesting question is how the new area translates into everyday use, from waiting times to reachable destinations. This announcement does not signal Robotaxi’s arrival in Italy.
