On Friday 24 January 2025, the Teslhub team attended an exclusive event at the Tesla Center in Vittuone. Alongside Cybercab, also known as Tesla’s purpose-built robotaxi, the new 2025 Model Y was a highlight of the presentation. Known during development as Juniper, the redesign brought visible exterior changes and a revised cabin. This article records the original team’s visit, with its photographs and the specifications discussed at that time.

A bolder exterior
The updated Model Y looked noticeably different from its predecessor, with a more futuristic front and rear. Its side profile remained broadly familiar, but several details changed:
- New front lighting with a continuous light bar inspired by Tesla’s “Cyber” styling, giving the nose a distinctive appearance.
- A front camera with an integrated washer, intended to help keep the lens clear. A washer does not guarantee visibility in every weather condition.
- No Tesla emblem on the bonnet, continuing the simplified exterior design.
- Redesigned rear lighting, with an indirect light bar above the TESLA lettering, creating a distinctive appearance after dark.
- Revised side mirrors with attention to both appearance and aerodynamics.
- A redesigned rear hatch area, with the number plate moved to the bumper.
- A more assertive overall appearance, giving Model Y a clearer visual identity alongside the smaller Model 3.
The original report gave a length of 4,790 mm, 39 mm more than the previous model. The revised front-end shape was designed to improve aerodynamics and efficiency. Those dimensional and equipment figures describe the version discussed at the January 2025 presentation, rather than every subsequent Model Y configuration.
A quieter, more comfortable cabin
The interior adopted materials and ideas familiar from the updated Model 3, often called Highland. The changes described at the event included:
- Additional sound insulation, with a reported noise reduction of 20%. The original report did not specify the measurement conditions, so the figure should not be treated as a universal reduction in every driving situation.
- Heated and ventilated front seats, with revised cushioning for the rear seats intended to improve comfort on longer journeys.
- Customisable ambient lighting around the cabin.
- An 8-inch rear display for passengers, offering entertainment and access to selected vehicle functions.
- Powered controls to fold and raise the rear seatbacks from the luggage compartment, making loading easier.
- A revised steering wheel with similarities to Model 3 Highland, but with an important difference: the indicator stalk remained.
The report cited a total storage figure of 2,130 litres, 20 litres below the previous comparison, while highlighting a more useful arrangement of the space and a dedicated place for the parcel shelf. The front luggage compartment provided additional storage. Capacity comparisons depend on the seating arrangement and measurement method.
Technology and safety
The presentation also highlighted changes to connectivity, driver assistance and in-car entertainment:
- Driver-assistance hardware and software formed part of the package. Availability of Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features depended on the purchased options, software and local approval. The presentation did not establish approval for unsupervised driving in Europe; the driver remained responsible for supervision of supported assistance features.
- Improved connectivity, including longer-range Wi-Fi and revised microphones intended to improve voice recognition.
- A premium audio system described in the original report as having 16 speakers, including additional speakers in the front doors. Equipment can differ by version.
Performance and efficiency
The changes extended beyond appearance and cabin equipment:
- The Long Range All-Wheel Drive version discussed at the event was rated at up to 569 km WLTP. Actual range depends on configuration, conditions and driving.
- Revised front-end aerodynamics and wheel designs aimed to reduce drag.
- Updated suspension intended to improve ride comfort and stability; it was not a guarantee of identical behaviour on every surface.
- A simplified structure with fewer components was described as a way to reduce weight while retaining strength.
Building on Model Y’s popularity
Model Y’s worldwide sales success in 2023 had placed it ahead of leading Toyota models in widely reported global model rankings. With Juniper, Tesla aimed to build on that position through a more refined cabin, revised styling and efficiency improvements.
For Europe, the report discussed production at Gigafactory Berlin and first deliveries expected in March 2025. It also speculated about an eventual Standard Range price around €45,000–€50,000. That range was an expectation in the original article, not a confirmed launch price for the version displayed or a current offer. Tesla’s strategy was to keep Model Y competitive while improving its equipment and refinement.
