Italy’s 2024 electric-car incentives drew new buyers towards EVs. The new battery-electric allocation was reported to have been reserved in less than a day, illustrating strong interest but not proving that grants remained available to later applicants. This June 2024 guide looked at reasons buyers might consider a Tesla.

Performance, energy costs and the charging ecosystem were part of the appeal. The ten points below describe benefits discussed at the time, without assuming every model or driver would receive the same savings or equipment.

1. Energy costs and efficiency

Home charging could cost less than petrol or diesel for a comparable journey, while public charging depended on tariffs. The guide cited a home charge starting at roughly €10, but battery size, energy added and the household contract mattered. Supercharging could be competitively priced for Tesla owners without a separate membership, but was not automatically the cheapest option everywhere. Vehicle efficiency also helped: the refreshed Model 3, commonly called Highland, had a cited drag coefficient of 0.219. Aerodynamics was one influence on road consumption, alongside speed, weather and tyres.

2. Performance

Tesla’s acceleration and low-mounted battery contributed to its driving appeal. The guide cited 0–100 km/h in 3.1 seconds for the Model 3 Performance configuration discussed. Acceleration figures depended on the version, test method and conditions; strong performance was not a reason to drive aggressively in traffic or exceed road limits.

3. Range

Longer-range variants could reduce the frequency of charging stops and make route planning easier. The article gave 678 km for a particular Model 3 Long Range specification. That was a rated range, not a guaranteed distance on a motorway or in winter. A suitable charging plan could reduce range anxiety, but it did not remove every driver’s need to consider charging access.

4. The Supercharger network

Tesla’s charging network was another attraction, offering an integrated route-planning and charging experience. The guide highlighted three aspects:

  • Network coverage.
  • Available charging power.
  • Pricing.

The article described more than 40,000 connectors worldwide, an imprecise historical lower-bound figure rather than a current count or a count of stations. V3 charging could peak at 250 kW on compatible cars; the cited recovery of up to 275 km in about 15 minutes depended on the model, charge level and conditions. The guide’s example Italian tariffs were €0.42/kWh outside 16:00–20:00 and €0.47/kWh during that period. It cited a €9.99 monthly membership for eligible non-Tesla drivers to access lower rates at open sites. These were period examples, not a permanent national price or universal compatibility offer.

5. The Tesla app

The app let owners access supported remote functions such as climate control, battery status, locking and luggage-compartment controls. Live camera viewing and other connected services had equipment, market and connectivity requirements. The exact functions depended on the vehicle rather than every app installation having identical access.

6. Over-the-air software updates

Tesla could distribute improvements and fixes through an internet connection, often using Wi-Fi. This could add functions without a workshop visit, but was not an unconditional lifetime promise of every future feature. Hardware, market approval, subscriptions and paid options could limit what a particular car received; some work still required service.

7. Driver assistance

Autopilot and optional packages could assist with tasks such as speed and steering within their operating limits. Cameras and other fitted sensors supported functions including adaptive cruise control and active safety. The original “Full Autopilot” terminology should not imply autonomous driving: the features required an attentive driver, and package contents and availability differed by market. Lane assistance or automatic emergency braking did not replace supervision.

8. Safety engineering

The low centre of gravity and crash structure were relevant design features, although a Tesla body was not simply one monolithic piece. The guide linked to Tesla’s discussion of injury-probability calculations. That was a manufacturer interpretation of particular US test results, not a universal ranking proving every Tesla safer than all other cars. Safety assessments were specific to model, year and protocol, and no design eliminated collision risk.

9. Sentry Mode

When enabled on a supported vehicle, Sentry Mode could monitor activity while parked, warn of certain threats and save qualifying footage with the required recording setup. It did not record every event or guarantee prevention of damage. USB provision, notifications and viewing recordings through the app depended on the model and software. Monitoring also used battery energy and had operating limits.

10. Infotainment

A large touchscreen and integrated media, streaming and games offered entertainment, particularly while parked or charging. Availability depended on region, connectivity, accounts, hardware and licensing; it was not an unrestricted app store where every programme could be installed. Used appropriately, these functions complemented the driving and charging experience.
