In the original Teslhub review, the team tried the JOWUA sunshades for the Tesla Model 3 Highland glass roof. Strong sunshine can make the cabin less comfortable and increase the work needed from the air conditioning. The shades were tested as a way to reduce direct sunlight through the roof and improve comfort in warm weather; the review reported a noticeable improvement after fitting them.
Overview
These shades are shaped specifically for the Model 3 Highland panoramic roof. JOWUA also offered a separate version for the earlier Model 3. The sturdy fabric is designed to resist wear and tearing while reducing sunlight and heat entering through the glass.
Two colour options
Dark Matter combines black fabric on the cabin side with an outer light-blocking layer. JOWUA claims up to 99% UV blocking for the material. This was the version covered in the original review.
Eclipse uses the same outer light-blocking layer with grey fabric facing the cabin, intended to blend with the interior. At publication, the team also planned a video review of this version.
What is in the box?
- One sunshade for the front glass roof panel
- One sunshade for the rear glass roof panel
- Twelve mounting clips: ten for fitting and two spares
- One small trim tool to help with fitting
- One zipped storage bag

Installation
The original review found fitting quick and straightforward. The shades followed the shape of the roof and covered the glass well. Supplied clips held them in place, and the clear instructions helped the team complete installation in under 10 minutes.
The fitting steps are outlined below and also shown in this video:
- Use the supplied trim tool to gently open the gap between the headliner and glass roof.
- Fit the ten clips in the positions shown in the instructions.
- Check that the label is at the upper left. The “SIDE UP” icon should face the glass roof, and the JOWUA logo should face into the cabin.
- Attach the sunshades to all the clips.

The result
After fitting the shades, the original review reported a noticeable improvement in cabin comfort, with less heat building up on sunny days. Reducing direct sunlight can also help limit exposure of the seats, dashboard and other interior surfaces. The review associated the lower cooling demand with improved energy efficiency, although it did not provide a measured range comparison.

Other benefits
The review found that the shades did not make the cabin excessively dark. Their fabric still allowed some outward visibility, avoiding a completely enclosed feeling while reducing the intensity of sunlight. Their understated appearance also suited the Model 3 interior.

The verdict
The original review strongly recommended JOWUA’s roof shades to Model 3 owners looking for more comfort in hot weather. The team was impressed by the material quality and the reduction in heat felt in the cabin. For owners who want more shade without a permanent change to the roof, they offer a practical accessory to consider.
