Tesla service is managed through the app, but submitting a request, choosing an appointment and approving an estimate are separate steps. A clear description of the problem helps you keep track of the case without mistaking an initial report for a confirmed repair.
1. Tesla service: describe the problem in the app
Open Service, choose a topic, describe the problem and follow the instructions. Tesla explains that, after diagnostics, you may receive a notification to schedule a visit. If no appointment is needed, it may provide troubleshooting instructions instead.
Describe what you observe, when it happens and what you expected. For example, “my phone is listed, but my contacts do not appear” is more precise than “my phone does not work”. Attach only material relevant to the request through the channels provided for your case.
2. Check the appointment type, date and requested work
Options may include a Service Centre, Collision Centre or Mobile Service, depending on the work and your location. Only one request can be open at a time. To add another issue, use Manage > Services > Edit > Add another concern. Adding an issue may affect the date and time. Menu wording can vary with the app’s language and version.
Read the summary again after making changes. Adding another item does not necessarily leave the rest of the appointment unchanged: check what the app shows before planning your day.
3. Tesla service: read the estimate before approving it
Go to Service > View Estimate. Tesla requires approval of the estimate before work begins. If it is out of date, contact the team. Whether the work is covered by warranty depends on the diagnosis.
Check that the listed work matches your request and clarify anything uncertain before confirming. Ask questions in the appointment conversation so you can read the written explanation alongside the estimate.
4. Use the conversation linked to your visit
From the appointment, select Message Service Team. To change the date and time, open Manage and select the relevant option. The app also shows the status and expected completion time.
Group questions about the same case into a clear message. Distinguish issues you have already reported from new developments, so that a repeated description is not mistaken for a separate request.
5. Prepare the car and check the instructions you receive
Before a Service Centre visit, Tesla asks you to remove child seats and valuables and keep the boot and cargo area clear. A courtesy vehicle depends on the service and availability. When the car is ready, you receive an app notification and a text message.
Follow the instructions for your case when dropping off and collecting the car. A routine visit and an urgent roadside assistance request are different services: if a breakdown requires recovery, use Tesla’s dedicated roadside assistance process.
