Tesla’s European expansion of FSD (Supervised) continues. The Czech Republic has approved use of the driver-assistance system on public roads, becoming the seventh European Union country to give it the go-ahead, according to the announcement covered in this September 2026 article.
The announcement came directly from Tesla Europe, which said the Czech rollout would begin soon. For local owners, approval represented another step towards access to the feature, although software distribution had not yet begun when the article was published.
FSD’s European expansion continues

With Czechia, the article counted seven European countries that had authorised customer use of FSD (Supervised): the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
Tesla’s route through Europe has involved national decisions. Without a single approval applying across all Member States, individual countries have been proceeding separately, referring to the approval framework developed by the Dutch authority RDW. This allows national authorisations while the process towards potentially broader EU approval continues. At publication, an EU decision was expected during the autumn, while other countries, including Italy, were pursuing their own procedures. Those expectations were not a guarantee of approval or an Italian launch date.
Member States have not all taken the same position. France and Sweden had expressed reservations about possible EU authorisation, including the system’s behaviour in relation to speed limits.
What changes for Czech owners
The Czech rollout was expected to bring compatible cars a localised European version of FSD v14, with behaviour designed around European roads. The article described adaptations for speed limits, lane changes and roundabouts, reflecting the continent’s driving conventions.
As in other markets, FSD remains an SAE Level 2 driver-assistance system. The driver must pay continuous attention to the road and be ready to intervene at any time. Tesla also uses the cabin camera to monitor driver attention. The initial rollout was intended for vehicles with Hardware 4 (AI4). Hardware 3 vehicles were expected to wait for FSD v14 Lite, which Tesla had discussed for international markets; that expectation did not itself establish availability or a delivery date.
What about Italy?

The Czech approval was another step in Tesla’s European process. Italy was not among the countries that had authorised the system at publication, although its regulatory procedure was under way. Gradual expansion could bring Italian drivers closer to access, but it did not establish when the feature would become available on Italian roads.
With seven countries reported to have given approval and a possible EU decision expected in the following months, European access to FSD was broadening. For Italian drivers, the open question was whether the next step would come through national authorisation or the wider European process.
