Tesla appeared to be preparing to remove the “Beta” label from Autosteer. Findings reported by firmware researcher Greentheonly in software version 2025.38 suggested a change to the feature’s branding. Removing a label would not remove the requirement to supervise the system: the report said Tesla would retain the on-screen supervision reminder when Autosteer was activated.

Driver-monitoring changes

The software findings also included new driver-monitoring graphics. The article interpreted them as possible preparation for future changes, including speculation about looking away from the road. It described three icon combinations:

  • High confidence: a white head symbol and white eyes;
  • Medium confidence: a white head symbol and red eyes;
  • Low confidence: a red head symbol and red eyes.

The article interpreted these symbols as possible indicators of system confidence. They did not establish permission to text, look away or stop supervising. Software graphics and naming changes alone cannot confirm a new operating capability; drivers must follow the vehicle’s instructions and applicable rules.

Geofenced FSD features in Europe

Another string reportedly found in the code read: “Approaching a country border, FSD features might become unavailable”. The article saw it as evidence of preparations for country-dependent availability. It also cited an expected Netherlands introduction in February 2026, which was a forecast at publication rather than proof of approval or launch.

Geofencing can limit functions according to location, potentially making some features unavailable after a border crossing. The article compared the idea with restrictions near the US–Mexico border. Such technical controls could support different national operating permissions, but they do not themselves grant regulatory approval or establish that FSD is available throughout Europe.
