Tesla has officially introduced a turn signal stalk retrofit kit in Europe for Model 3 owners whose cars lack the physical control. At the time of this report, the accessory was listed in the Tesla Shop at €660, including the component, shipment to the selected Service Centre and installation. As expected, stock sold out within hours, demonstrating customer interest in an “old-school” return that many see as a victory for common sense.
Turn signal stalk compatibility and installation
The kit is described as compatible with Model 3 cars produced from 2023 to 2025, meaning the “Highland” facelift versions without physical steering-column stalks. It is purchased directly through the Tesla app, selecting the preferred Service Centre where the vehicle will be updated. According to the Model 3 service manual cited in this report, the work takes around 1.5–2 hours.
How the dashboard changes
The retrofit does more than add a physical stalk: it also introduces a new steering wheel with redesigned buttons, without the now-unnecessary turn signal controls. The fitted stalk is exclusively for turn signals. It does not include high-beam or windscreen wiper controls, which remain on the steering wheel buttons.

An enthusiastic reception
Removing the stalks from the Highland version was one of Tesla’s most criticised decisions, particularly among European drivers accustomed to immediate, intuitive control. In urban settings and at roundabouts, which are common in Italy, steering wheel buttons often felt awkward and counterintuitive. The stalks’ return, alongside the arrival of a front bumper camera on new examples, therefore represents a clear move by Tesla, which appears to have listened to community feedback.
