In October 2025, updates were reported for European Model 3 vehicles built at Gigafactory Shanghai: revised battery configurations, a camera in the front bumper and a physical indicator stalk. The changes concerned particular versions and production periods; they should not be read as a retrofit or identical battery upgrade for every existing Model 3.
The reported 82 kWh LG battery
The article associated a reported 82 kWh pack using LG 5M cells with improved long-range specifications. It cited up to 750 km WLTP for the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive. Pack capacity and cell designations were reported technical details, not a universal Tesla specification for the whole range; WLTP range also depended on the version and wheels.
European range figures
The following table records the before-and-after range figures cited for the European lineup. It does not establish that every variant used the same battery:
| Version | Previous WLTP range | Reported new WLTP range |
|---|---|---|
| RWD | 513 km | 544 km |
| LR RWD | 702 km | 750 km |
| LR AWD | 678 km | 716 km |
| Performance | 528 km | 571 km |
The report also gave a Model 3 Performance power change from 460 to 500 horsepower and compared that with about 510 hp in North America. Different measurement bases and configurations can make those figures difficult to compare. They should not be taken as an independently verified power increase or a guaranteed acceleration improvement for every car.

The indicator stalk returns
One notable usability change was the return of a physical indicator stalk after the steering-wheel buttons introduced with the Highland refresh.
The article linked the decision to feedback about using the buttons in city manoeuvres and tight turns. It also described a paid retrofit in China at roughly $350 and a European offer at €660. Those were period market reports, not confirmation that every car was compatible. The original February 2025 production-date threshold should be checked against Tesla’s instructions for the specific market and vehicle.
The report referred to European approval documents as evidence of the hardware change and expected introduction to follow Shanghai production. A new-production specification and an available retrofit were distinct matters.

A camera in the front bumper
The centrally positioned front-bumper camera was intended to improve the view close to the vehicle, including low-speed manoeuvres, and support compatible assistance features.
That location can cover an area not directly visible from the windscreen cameras. It does not by itself guarantee a parking feature, FSD availability or identical camera equipment across every Tesla model, market and build date. The original article’s claim that all models now had the sensor was too broad without those qualifications.

Small exterior changes
The reported update also included removal of the front Tesla “T” badge. Cosmetic details could vary by production specification, so an individual vehicle’s configuration remained the appropriate reference.
Range and everyday usability
The updates brought together longer reported WLTP ranges, a physical control and an additional camera viewpoint. Their practical value depended on the actual version and equipment delivered. They did not establish that future software functions would automatically be available or approved.
