After months of anticipation and speculation, Tesla made the new Model Y Performance available in Italy in August 2025. The sportiest version of its popular electric SUV could be ordered through the online configurator from €61,990, with deliveries expected from September 2025. These are the launch details reported at publication, rather than today’s prices or delivery estimates.
A more assertive design
The new Model Y Performance stands out through several performance-focused details:
- Redesigned bumpers with larger air intakes.
- A more pronounced carbon-fibre spoiler.
- 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 forged wheels.
- Red brake callipers and gloss-black trim.
The result is a more purposeful appearance that retains the clean lines of the Model Y family. It adds the sporting variant that had been missing from the refreshed range.
A sportier cabin and updated infotainment
The cabin introduces several exclusive features:
- Performance sports seats with adjustable thigh support, heating and ventilation.
- Carbon-fibre trim and aluminium pedals.
- A 16-inch QHD touchscreen, larger than the 15.4-inch display in the other versions, with 80% more pixels.
- A premium audio system with 15 speakers and a subwoofer, as in the AWD version.
The cabin is intended to feel more premium and better suited to enthusiastic driving while retaining everyday comfort.
Model Y Performance powertrain and figures
The dual-motor Performance powertrain provides all-wheel drive. The original report quoted 460 metric horsepower, alongside these performance figures:
- 0–100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
- A top speed of 250 km/h.
- Up to 580 km of WLTP range.
The updated battery was estimated at 82 kWh gross and described as using higher-energy-density cells to improve performance and efficiency. That capacity was an estimate in the original report. The quoted Supercharging figure was up to 243 km of added range in 15 minutes; actual results depend on charging and vehicle conditions.
Chassis and suspension
Like the Model 3 Performance, the new Model Y features adaptive suspension with electronic control that responds to driving conditions. The available settings include Standard and Sport suspension modes and two levels of Stability Assist, allowing the driving character to be adjusted.

Italian prices at launch
The Italian price list reported in August 2025 was:
- Model Y RWD: €44,990.
- Model Y Long Range RWD: €49,990.
- Model Y Long Range AWD: €52,990.
- Model Y Performance AWD: €61,990.
The new Model Y Performance therefore carried a €9,000 premium over the Long Range AWD at the time, in exchange for its stronger performance and additional equipment.
Built at Gigafactory Berlin, the Model Y Performance aimed to combine a distinctive sporting design and rapid acceleration with the range and practicality that had helped make the Model Y so successful. It completed the refreshed SUV range with a version focused more firmly on driving performance.
