The document describes a proposed installation, rather than a facility already open.

Archive coverage published on 23 October 2026, with an editorial date of 18 August 2026. This account concerns documents available for the August story; it does not establish the construction site’s current status.

In this article

Tesla wireless charging in Austin: the figure in the site plan

What the Texas register documents

A fleet project is not a public charging station

What remains to be verified

Tesla wireless charging in Austin: the figure in the site plan

Drawing A1.01 identifies the project as “Tesla Auto Cab” at 405 East St. Elmo Road. Its notes specify two V4 cabinets intended to support 80 wireless chargers in phase 2. The sheet shows a revision dated 17 April 2026 for the permit application.

The distinction between cabinets and charging points is essential: a cabinet is part of the installation’s equipment, while charging points serve the vehicles. The ratio between the two numbers does not establish power available to each car. We therefore derive no charging times, battery capacity or fleet performance from this document.

The expression “phase 2” must also be retained. It identifies part of the project distinct from the initial configuration, rather than demonstrating that every element is installed at the same time. Turning the planned figure into a count of operating chargers would change the source’s meaning.

What the Texas register documents

Separate corroboration comes from the official TDLR register, project TABS2026019562. The filing dates to 6 May 2026 and identifies Tesla, the same address and the ARCVISION practice. It describes privately funded exterior work on private land.

The register gives an intervention area of 82,107 square feet and an estimated cost of $2,117,000. The dates stated in the project are 7 September 2026 for the start and 18 January 2027 for completion. These are planning figures, rather than proof that work has begun or a promised opening date.

The register and site plan answer different questions. The former corroborates the project’s identity and scope; the latter contains the reference to wireless charging. Neither alone certifies that a car has already used the installation.

Official Tesla archive image: it shows neither the St. Elmo Road site nor installed wireless chargers.

A fleet project is not a public charging station

For Tesla owners, the practical question is whether the project adds a usable stop during a journey. These documents are insufficient to answer yes. They give no customer prices, access conditions or compatibility with private cars. Tesla’s name and V4 equipment do not amount to an announcement of public access.

The “Auto Cab” reference instead places the drawing in the context of fleet services. Automating charging stops could reduce the need to connect a cable manually; this is an interpretation of the intended function, rather than demonstrated performance. We infer no retrofit availability for Model 3 or Model Y.

To compare this project with expansion of the regular network, we have separately gathered the official second-quarter 2026 Supercharger figures. A fleet depot and a travel network meet different needs and should not be added together without knowing their respective counting criteria.

What remains to be verified

Developments that would change the picture include construction documents, confirmation of installation and a communication about entry into service. Public access would also require specific confirmation. In this August archive account, we keep those milestones separate from the filed project, without using later developments to anticipate its outcome.

The story concerns Austin, Texas. It announces neither Tesla wireless charging in Italy, new services for Italian owners nor a European date. Its interest lies in the drawing’s level of detail: a clear infrastructure intention, with quantities and development phase, accompanied by equally clear limits.

Sources: TDLR register TABS2026019562; Tesla Auto Cab site plan A1.01, reproduced in documentation highlighted by MarcoRP and published by Teslarati.
