Tesla has quietly updated the Model Y<\/strong> interior in China<\/strong>, bringing some features from the more expensive Model Y L<\/strong> to the Standard<\/strong> and Premium<\/strong> versions. The aim is a more consistent, premium experience across the variants offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More luxury at the same price<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the arrival of Model Y L<\/strong>, Tesla raised the interior\u2019s quality<\/strong> through improved materials and advanced features. These characteristics are now reaching less expensive models in the range, narrowing some comfort and luxury differences. Buyers of a Model Y can now find a visually similar, premium cabin across the different versions<\/strong>, reinforcing the brand\u2019s premium design. Here are some of the changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black fabric pillars across the range<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most visible change concerns interior pillar fabric<\/strong>, which replaces the familiar light grey with black<\/strong>. The material has a more Alcantara-like appearance. This aesthetic choice creates a more elegant feel and an impression of higher quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A larger, higher-resolution centre display<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tesla has also updated the centre display<\/strong>, increasing it from 15.4 to 16 inches<\/strong>. Size is not the only change: the new screen has thinner bezels, higher contrast and QHD resolution<\/strong> (2560\u00d71440), compared with the previous 1920\u00d71200, with a slightly larger screen area (+2.63%). The modern display design gives Model Y versions, and potentially future Model 3 versions<\/strong>, a consistent experience regardless of model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expected arrival in Europe and North America<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the time of this report, these updates concern only cars made at Giga Shanghai<\/strong>, although extension to Giga Berlin<\/strong> and Giga Texas<\/strong> is considered likely. Tesla tends to trial manufacturing changes in China before introducing them globally, optimising supply chains and production volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
