First shown in 2017 with extraordinary performance targets, the sports car had spent eight years in development while Tesla focused on higher-volume vehicles and autonomous-driving projects. This archive article records expectations circulating in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A new Roadster presentation expected in 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report attributed to Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen an expectation that <strong>the updated Roadster would be shown before the end of 2025<\/strong>. It anticipated a demonstration prototype, revised styling, new colours and technical refinements, with production discussed for 2027. Musk had described cold-gas thrusters intended to supplement the car\u2019s dynamics. The article discussed a possible ten-thruster layout and even limited lifting effects. Those ideas were not a verified production specification or demonstrated road-car capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The engineering challenges would be considerable<\/strong>, including structure, suspension, stability control and the practical requirements for any such system. Suggestions about hovering or jumping remained speculative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why build a Roadster?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tesla already had fast electric cars in the Model S and Model X Plaid. The Roadster could instead serve as a <strong>halo car: a showcase for design, performance and technical ambition<\/strong>. The article interpreted it as a celebration of driving alongside Tesla\u2019s increasing focus on automation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With cars such as the Rimac Nevera and Lucid Air Sapphire already demonstrating strong electric performance, Roadster faced a very different market from 2017. More accessible models such as Model Y Standard represented another part of Tesla\u2019s range, balancing price, design and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Musk had promised a memorable demonstration, raising hopes that the long wait might soon yield a clearer view of the car. For enthusiasts, Roadster represented a distinctive strand of Tesla\u2019s ambitions.
