In some cases, the obstruction is on the inside: <strong>on the glass in front of the forward-facing cameras<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>thin, cloudy film can build up on the inner glass in front of the cameras<\/strong>. The article links this to residues released by cabin materials, known as <em>off-gassing<\/em>, or to <strong>changes in temperature and humidity<\/strong>. Reaching that area is more involved than wiping the windscreen: <strong>the mirror and camera housing may need to be removed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following <strong>post from a Tesla owner<\/strong> shows a camera-glass cleaning attempt. The original report described owners breaking fragile plastic clips while attempting it themselves, then needing Tesla to repair the damage. <strong>It is understandable that the issue attracted considerable discussion among owners and enthusiasts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Musk: front-camera cleaning is an area of focus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the time of the report, Elon Musk had publicly addressed the issue, <strong>acknowledging it and saying Tesla was working on it<\/strong>. His description of it as a \u201cmajor area of focus\u201d indicated that the company considered it important, although it did not establish the precise solution or a release date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The article suggested that any design changes might initially be limited to new vehicles. A seemingly minor obstruction can therefore <strong>have a practical effect on everyday use<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The encouraging point was that <strong>Tesla had acknowledged the issue<\/strong>.
