A Deutsche Bank report fuelled that discussion with the provisional name <strong>\u201cModel Q\u201d<\/strong>, describing an entry-level car priced below $30,000 after US incentives and projected for the first half of 2025. Here is what the report suggested, and why the proposal attracted attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"viewer-gib57176\"><strong>Model Q: projected specifications and price<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"viewer-6koq8180\">\u201cModel Q\u201d was the name used by Deutsche Bank, <strong>not a confirmed Tesla product name<\/strong>. The report described a more accessible EV intended for a wider market, with the following expected characteristics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Size:<\/strong> projected to be 15% smaller and 30% lighter than Model 3.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Price:<\/strong> projected below $30,000 with the US tax incentives assumed in the report, or around $37,500 without them. It noted delays and Musk\u2019s emphasis on using existing platforms rather than immediately building an entirely new one. Some rumours envisaged <strong>a particularly minimalist vehicle<\/strong>, with a simplified interior and a strong focus on manufacturing efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"viewer-z38e6231\">Any lower-cost Tesla would face substantial challenges. Competition was intensifying, particularly from Chinese manufacturers such as BYD, while investment in new models could put short-term pressure on margins. Tax policy was another uncertainty: <strong>without the anticipated US incentives, the projected price would be less attractive<\/strong>.
